The Summer Solstice invites us to open ourselves up like ripe spring flowers when the solar light reaches its maximum; the time has come to deepen and intensify our Spring Equinox intentions. In this form of astrology-Goddess Astrology-we aim to break down patriarchal control and take back our natural seasonal powers. The Spring Equinox is the beginning of the year, not New Year’s Day. Every spring, we make three significant intentions for creative projects we’d like to manifest during the year, and then we craft ingenious ways to widen their potential during the summer. We balance this work in the fall, and then during the winter while the light increases, we consider what these creations mean for our planet.
During the Summer Solstice, Earth receives the strongest solar light in the northern latitudes. Meanwhile, it is Winter Solstice in the southern latitudes. Our friends south of the Equator begin their planetary contemplation as we expand our work. The Sun encourages us grow and evolve, thus our personal development becomes the focus when the Sun moves into Cancer. Like exquisite roses that open slowly and delicately flower as they draw water efficiently up their stems, we manifest our greatest beauty. If you’ve prepared well for this moment during this spring, you will surely blossom. You can be fully conscious of your own special opening if you review your spring intentions, just before they explode to show your beauty to the Sun.
As many of you know, my main work for the last year has been to encourage as many people as possible to take the next step in human evolution-to achieve peace and become a compassionate species. For those of you who have been watching my 1999-2011 predictions in The Mayan Code: Time Acceleration and Awakening the World Mind, we are reaching a critical juncture as we enter the Fourth World of the Galactic Underworld. You may need to consult The Mayan Code for more details on the Four Worlds of the Calendar to consider this major nexus point that occurs during the middle of this summer season-August 15, 2008. The Four Worlds expose the contents of the human collective mind, and according to my analysis of this factor, our group mind is contemplating the end of war. If significant moves in the direction of peace (especially in Israel/Palestine) do not occur, then I believe there is something wrong with either my own analysis of the cycles and/or Carl Calleman’s basic hypothesis. As you will see in this reading, the accuracy of the predictions in The Mayan Code continues to be stunning.
I recommend my book right now because using time acceleration in a conscious way is the essence of the critical leap. After all, if Calleman is right about the Mayan Calendar, and my own predictions are accurate, then there is great hope that we will take the next evolutionary step: peace on Earth. I bring this issue up here because as we move into this summer, the Summer Solstice chart exhibits significant patterns that could inspire the collective to long for the end of war. First of all, the fact that this chart (which directs large societal movements from June 20 through September 22, 2008) contains clues about how the Fourth World could usher in peace. Secondly, the chart seems to confirm my feeling that this summer is D-Day. Therefore, I will use this reading as an excuse to explore the kinds of changes that must occur in the collective mind to give peace a chance, since what happens to our species is the result of what is going on in our minds and hearts. The Pleiadians have always said that the galaxy and universe will know that we have changed when we stop killing one another. Also, seeing and imaging how this process might work out could be inspirational, and in that sense my Astroflash! is alchemical. Anything I can say that sheds light on human violence and hopelessness might be valuable.
As many of you know, I’ve written that the human species is afflicted with a very damaging syndrome-”catastrophobia”-which is a stubborn feeling that the world is about to end. [See Catastrophobia: The Truth Behind Earth Changes.] The Galactic Underworld is processing all the layers of catastrophobia in our minds as we observe the mayor players on the world’s stage. These days, religious fundamentalists-who believe the end of the world is nigh-lead many countries. They think it is useless to try to fix anything for the future, or even to act in the present-such as to save people during natural disasters! Well, should not such an attitude disqualify them from running for office? Shouldn’t they be going to a therapist instead of to their offices? Their dead-end philosophies have caused a short-term reversal of human progress in a few short years. This universal loss of faith in the future is even arousing fear in the collective mind that the Maya End Date-2011/12-is when the end will come. Meanwhile, peace cannot come into form in a world that helplessly awaits its own demise!
The Summer Solstice chart is cast for Washington, DC, since the USA has been attempting to become the world empire during the Galactic Underworld. First we look to the Sun as it moves into 0 Cancer. Venus has just passed the Sun and is still very close at 3 Cancer, and Venus passed behind the Sun just a few weeks ago. In Maya astrology, Venus is the harbinger of war and peace, so isn’t it fascinating that Venus in the 1776 USA Founding chart is in 3 Cancer? That is, Venus in the Summer Solstice Chart conjuncts the USA Venus, which suggests that the USA is the arbitrator of peace and war this summer.
Sun/Venus are exactly opposite Pluto, which has just retrograded back into Sagittarius and is moving close to the Galactic Center. As discussed in the May New Moon analysis, Pluto will be back in Sagittarius once more through November, and then it will go into Capricorn until AD 2024. Therefore, everything that occurs during the summer season has galactic implications-that is, this summer/fall is a time of cosmic awakening. Because the USA has displayed such great hubris, the human species is about to experience shocking limitations. Simply put, many people will see that they themselves are the cause of the degrading violence. Meanwhile, Pluto on the Galactic Center opposite Sun/Venus will ferociously increase personal cosmic attunement, as our lonely separation from the rest of the universe becomes more palpable.
Many of you have going through terrible financial losses. Do not forget that you have a chance to make some changes while Pluto is back in Sagittarius until November. The spirits will help you if your heart is open and you trust the process of change; ask them for advice and support. Regarding this summer, Saturn in 3 Virgo exactly sextiles Sun/Venus in Cancer, which will encourage you to see the real source of the problems-unbalanced male/female relations. All large events are fueled by Mars/Venus conflicts that come first from us! And, Saturn trines Pluto on the Galactic Center, so Father Time is the emissary for the people who cry to be received in the Galaxy, in the cosmic dimensions. It will be easy for you to receive guidance if you can drop your limiting view of what is possible, yet the door will shut on those who won’t shift. You will be amazed at what you see.
Next, this analysis gets very complicated because we are imagining how to unravel dysfunctional patterns in the human psyche that have built up over five thousands years during the National and Planetary Underworlds. Pathways for human restructuring can be found by analyzing the nodes of the Moon-the crossing points on the ecliptic that reveal how the past influences the probable futures. Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius sit right on the lunar North Node, which is a great combination for using spirituality and healing to determine the future. Mars (war) in Leo (ego) sits right on the lunar South Node, which reveals the source of our past blocks. The planets on the lunar nodes are in opposition, since the lunar nodes are always the ends of an axis that indicates where we are heading. Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius on the North Node say we are healing our spirits by letting go of ego and getting connected to “all that is”. Mars on the South Node means the ego pattern we are releasing is war and aggression, and because it is in Leo, renouncing ego is the way to do it. Why do people always need to win?
What kind of mechanisms can we see for making such critical evolutionary leaps? The astrological mechanisms that cause change are quincunxes, the 150-degree angles between planets. Occasionally, two planets in sextile form a double quincunx to an opposing planet, which is called the Yod or the “Finger of God.” When we have a Yod, the patterns that are pushing us to a new order succeed; what will happen can be read by analyzing it. When Yods occur during New and Full Moons; in seasonal charts; and when planets are changing direction, big changes are coming for sure. Not only that, the opposing planet at the top of a Yod actually identifies the nature of the shift. During this Summer Solstice, the mid-point between Jupiter and the Moon in Capricorn exactly sextiles Uranus in Pisces, and the opposing planet (the top of the Yod) is Mars on the South Node. This significant Yod is pushing Mars to go to another level. Also, Uranus is stationary in the sky and goes retrograde June 26; deep reflections on how aggression affects our spiritual growth will be a theme this summer. Many people are going to remember the higher level of Mars, since Mercury goes direct just before the Summer Solstice on June 19. Jupiter/Moon in Capricorn means that our feelings will be deep, real, and effective, yet quite constrained this summer. This is a good combination for sober thinking coming from deep emotions just waiting to emerge. If you know somebody with Moon conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn, you’ve learned to listen when they speak because they keep their own counsel until just the right time. Uranus in Pisces has been activating a whole new level of spirituality since 2003. It is certainly ironic that Uranus went into Pisces just before Bush invaded Iraq, which makes me wonder if this great regression in world politics happened to force the human race to examine its own behavior. Thus, Uranus in Pisces-spiritualization of change itself-and Neptune in Aquarius-radical transformation of spiritual access-have been the guides for the awakening to peace during the Galactic Underworld (1999-2011). So, with Uranus in the Yod to Mars and Neptune opposite Mars, the great awakening will progress in major ways this summer-even though, at times, this could seem to be in ways that are negative. Don’t expect to find the Good News on the evening news, since the newscasters who might slip in the truth have slipped away, such as Peter Jennings and Tim Russert. In summary, the emergence of deep feelings about seemingly endless war will activate a spiritual movement to clear the emotional blockage of humanity.
The aspects to Mars, the god or inner archetype of war, are stunning. Mars right on the lunar South Node tells us it is karma time, which means experiences in wars past are being played out on the field daily. That is, the wars that are going on just do not have much to do with real issues on the planet, such as food and fuel shortages and financial and weather disasters. The opposition from Chiron/Neptune right on the North Node says that the current “now” is about healing delusions and fantasies, so that we can experience true spirituality. The Yod to Mars from Jupiter/Moon sextile Uranus says the time has come for Mars to demonstrate his full potential, which is the real protection of women and children, community, and the planet itself. Ultimately Mars will not be petty, and he will shuck off petty people pretending to be soldiers for God. War is now atavistic, and Pluto on the Galactic Center is in charge now. New energy for life on Earth must be discovered; then Pluto in Capricorn (2008-2024) will build new structures for a new world.
Pluto so closely opposing the Solstice Sun/Venus will have his way this summer. Aggression will not be allowed to just consume the planet, because Nature always balances Earth. If it takes the flooding of the whole heartland in the USA and other earth changes to stop war, then that is how it will be; this summer promises to be a very telling moment in human evolution. Again, how can we envision a positive outcome? Saturn sextiles Venus/Sun, and so no matter how difficult this transition will be, it will create order that has lasting results. With Saturn trining Pluto on the Galactic Center, many are ready to face the music, get honest, and change now; they will be spared on many levels. It is time for each to decide which side of the fence they are sitting on, and make sure the fence is not decorated with fleur-de-lis!
Lastly, I’d like to end with a few words about a correct prediction in The Mayan Code on page 177. I noted that the medical and pharmaceutical colossus would collapse during Night Five. In the science section of the June 17 New York Times, a deep analysis of doctor discontent in the USA was published. The insurers, including Medicare and Medicaid, function as bankrollers for profit-motivated pharmaceutical companies and hospitals. Doctors, who have medical licenses to carry out pharmaceutical protocols, keep this all going, but only as long as they are highly paid. According to the article, doctors are being forced to spend many hours on paperwork and dealing with “managed care” instead of practicing medicine. Then, hospital admissions and prescriptions by doctors are frequently (30-40 %) denied by managed-care reps who don’t know anything about the patients. Worse than that, doctors rarely can attend their own patients in hospitals. This puts the patient at risk because they are in crisis, and hospitals without active doctors are a very dangerous place to be. To top this off, doctors who are severely limited in their ability to act are being forcefully challenged by patients, who are armed with their own knowledge about their conditions! To top that off, Medicare payments to doctors are about to be reduced on July 1, 2008. Obviously, if the doctors can’t stand allopathic medicine anymore, this for-profit medical system will collapse.
The New Moon that follows each season is always the kickoff of the given season, so be sure to watch for the reading of the July 2-3 New Moon in Cancer!
